Proclaimed by dance music luminaries as one of the most exciting new producers on the scene right now, the dynamic forward thinking artist Lee Osborne took the dance music scene by storm in 2010. A DJ, producer and promoter for 10 years, and part of a well known infamous London collective alongside Ali Wilson, Matt Smallwood and Ben Gold, it wasn’t until his remix of ‘Automanual’ became Marco V’s most requested track in his live sets that people really started to sit up and take notice.
Now armed with a pioneering original full catalogue of ground breaking material, Osborne was ready to take the game on in full force, it was his time. The self proclaimed release of ‘Innocent’ featured on WA-X Records was the prologue to the aforementioned rise and support from the World’s biggest DJ Tiesto, only consolidated his new vision. Mondo Records soon followed up with the signings of the more melodic ‘Eight’ & ‘Nine’ but the the jewel in the crown was with Incharge’s second signing, the original debut called ‘Blow Me’ which still remains number 1 in the Tech Trance charts today, and following single ‘NKM’.
Beatsmedia:
How would you describe the “Lee Osborne” sound?
Lee Osborne:
Rolling tech still with that uplifting feel :-)
Beatsmedia:
You have had releases on Armada, Incharge, High Contrast and Mondo Recordings to mention a few. What track would you say was your ‘breakthrough’ production and why was this such a monumental track in you career?
Lee Osborne:
I think ‘Eight’ on Mondo was a big track for me and got me noticed for sure! Everyone was on it and people are still caining’ it to this day :-)
Beatsmedia:
Your follow-up single entitled "Nine" is due out on Mondo Records on 14th Feb 2011. Tell us a bit about that.
Lee Osborne:
Well obviously as I mentioned before, Eight was a massive single for me and it really launched me last year so I wanted to evolve the sound for the follow up single cleverly titled 'Nine' (took me ages to think of that). I wanted to keep the style in-line with the label so it's more of an uplifting tech trance sound and I'll continue to develop that for future releases.
I'm looking forward to seeing what the feedback is from reaction sheets, as I know the track has already gone to the DJ's. Mondo has also done a double package so you can get Eight free with Nine! Shameless plug :)
I'm already working on a follow up and looking forward to a lot more Mondo releases!
Beatsmedia:
What are you working on in the studio at the moment?
Lee Osborne:
I’ve got 6 finished already and I’m just waiting for final release dates from the labels but now I’m working on a new more progressive number which should be finished today, so an early start in the studio tomorrow. Then I’ll be working some cool remixes which I’m really looking forward to and a new EP with Ben Gold.
Beatsmedia:
Where can we find out more about your projects and latest releases?
Lee Osborne:
I’ve just launched my new website www.lee-osborne.com it’s updated every week and you can find everything on there, news, releases, events and my latest podcasts.
Beatsmedia:
Where can we catch you behind the decks in the coming months? Any particular dates we should pencil into our diaries?
Lee Osborne:
I’m just in the process of finishing up my tour diary from March onwards as I’m super busy in the studio but I’ve got a new festival date coming up, a big date in Bournemouth and another few up North – I can’t wait to this year is going to be really big.
Beatsmedia:
What are your personal goals for 2011?
Lee Osborne:
I’m stepping up my game 500% this year in every area I’ve got so many goals it’s hard to mention. But really I just want to keep putting out good music and doing a lot more live gigs. I’m very excited about this year, I’m working non-stop and that’s the only way to do it.
Beatsmedia:
Any final comments to fans, friends and followers?
Lee Osborne:
I just wanted to say thanks for every one whose supported me over the past 12 months, from all the guys at BeYourSelf Music, Armada and Mondo, to the team at camp Osborne and all the DJ’s whose playing my music. Big love x
